Sometimes, life hits you so hard that you feel like you’re drowning in a sea of doubt and despair... and yet, somehow, through the darkest storms, a flicker of light emerges. That light - that unexplainable spark - is what I want to talk about today. It’s about those raw, unfiltered moments when faith isn’t just a word but a lifeline. When spiritual growth isn’t a neat checklist but a messy, beautiful journey that shakes you to your core and rebuilds you anew.

The Unexpected Path to Spiritual Awakening

Have you ever felt like you were wandering through a fog, unsure if you’d ever find your way out? I know I have. There was a time when I was so lost, so overwhelmed by life’s chaos, physical illness that brought me close to death on a number of occasions, that I questioned everything I believed in. It wasn’t a sudden epiphany that saved me - no, it was a slow, painful unraveling of old beliefs and a desperate search for something real. That search led to a holy encounter, with the tangible presence of God one glorious day in 2020. A day where I was going to end my life, but instead became a moment so undeniably powerful , it not only saved my life, but lit a fire for Jesus within my soul and spirit, that changed me forever.

Spiritual growth isn’t about perfection - it’s about showing up, even when you feel broken. If you understand nothing else, understand this; Jesus meets us where we are at. It's His blood, that washes us clean, not our actions. If you find yourself striving in your own strength to be worthy, stop now. Absolute holiness is the standard of which humanity falls categorically short of and the exact reason why we need Jesus. He is the way, He is the truth and He gives us life eternal. It's Him. It's always been Him and nurturing a relationship with Him, is one of the most beautiful experiences I have ever experienced in my 48 years and is absolutely available to each and every brave soul who dares to knock.

What about you? Have you ever felt that quiet nudge to keep going, even when the road ahead seemed impossible? Impossible is where God begins.

Uplifting Faith Journeys: Finding Strength in Vulnerability

Here’s the thing about faith - it’s not about having all the answers. It’s about embracing the questions, the doubts, the fears... and still choosing to believe. I’ve met so many people whose stories of spiritual growth are filled with moments of vulnerability that turned into incredible strength.

A relationship with God through faith doesn't erase the wrestle or the struggle, faith helps us persevere and endure. It's Grace, manifest. That is what the apostle Paul understood, when he said of God " Your Grace is sufficient.

If you’re experiencing difficulty beginning, here are some practical steps that will help you to begin:

  • Engage in daily prayer even if it feels awkward or forced at first. Get comfortable sitting in silence, read the word of God daily. That is where you hear the voice of God the loudest.

  • Journal your thoughts and prayers to track your progress and reflect on your journey. I love journalling, it one of my favourite ways to connect with God, by simply becoming quiet and picking up a pen.

  • Be patient with yourself - spiritual growth is a marathon, not a sprint... And it starts with surrender.

When Faith Feels Like a Battle: Stories of Perseverance

Let’s be real - sometimes faith feels like a battlefield because it is. You pray, you hope, and yet the pain doesn’t go away. Spiritual warfare is also very real I’ve been there, but God has a promise about that, it can be found in Romans 8:28, let that promise encourage you on the hard days. I’ve heard countless stories of people who have wrestled with God in the silence, in the waiting ( Think Jacob in Genesis 32:22-28). Here's the thing I have most profoundly discovered though on my own journey; it's in the wrestle, the waiting that God does His best work. That is where He perfects His work and, It's kind of the best part.

Stories of trial and overcoming by faith are countless and in the age we live in, are accessible by simply turning on a computer.

There is so much power in story telling. It's why movies can profoundly impact us, wether through inspiration or exhortation. Sharing stories and pondering my own journey of faith, reminds me that spiritual growth often comes through struggle - that the refining fire of hardship can produce a faith that is unshakable.

How to Embrace Your Own Uplifting Faith Journey

So, how do you start your own journey of spiritual growth? How do you move from feeling stuck or lost to experiencing that deep, transformative connection with God? Here are some heartfelt tips that have helped me and many others: Begin with curiosity, ask Jesus to encounter you.

  1. Make time, start small and read the bible - even five minutes of quiet prayer or reflection can open the door. The more you press in and diligently seek ( Hebrews 11:6) the more God reveals himself.

  2. Be honest with God - bring your doubts, your fears, your anger. He can handle it and He loves you.

  3. Prophetic messages or teachings that resonate with your spirit - they can be powerful guides but always ALWAYS pray about any prophetic messages that may be spoken over you.

  4. Surround yourself with uplifting and edifying content and people, but always test the spirit ( 1 John 4) who inspires and challenges you to grow in faith? Be mindful to guard what you consume though. Always take everything to God in prayer. Infact, pray for wisdom, God likes to give that out in good measure.

  5. Celebrate small victories and remember to give God the glory on the way - every step forward is a sign of growth.

Remember, this isn’t about perfection or having it all figured out. It’s about showing up - again and again - and trusting God, that the journey itself is sacred.

The Power of Community in Spiritual Growth

One of the most beautiful parts of spiritual growth is the community that forms around it. When you connect with others who are on similar paths, sharing their struggles and victories, it creates a powerful ripple effect of encouragement and healing.

I’ve seen firsthand how a community built on prayer, prophetic insight, and genuine care can lift people out of despair and into HOPE. It’s not about having all the answers but about walking together, hand in hand, through the ups and downs, but most importantly, having Christ as the centre. The third strand of a 3 strand cord, binding the word of God and the fire of the Holy spirit to the hearts of every believer in common fellowship and worship.

If you’re looking for a place to start, I highly recommend exploring shared stories of faith by others who have walked this path before you. Their journeys can inspire and remind you that you are never alone.

There’s something deeply humbling and exhilarating about watching faith unfold in real life - in the messy, imperfect, beautiful stories of people who dared to believe when everything else told them not to. These faith journeys, are not just tales to admire from afar; they are invitations to step into your own story of transformation. And it starts with Jesus.

So, what’s your next step? How will you answer the call to grow, to trust, to hope? The journey awaits - and Ephesians 3:20 promises it’s more incredible than you can imagine.

God is in the details. Eyes peeled, spirit open...look for Him there.
